Hapi (Nile)
Valley:
See
also our above-mentioned separate
capsule section on the Hapi (Nile) Valley basin
and the rest of Africa, beginning with the
famous Nyanza (Ukerewe),
one of the Lakes that started it all (the other
is Lake Tana in the highlands of Ethiopia). This
section contains several pointers to the
so-called "debate" on the Black African origin
and development of the Nile Valley
civilisations, including K'm't ("Pharaonic
Egypt"), and the related extent of their
influence on Ancient Greece. As one might
expect, much here is devoted to the late Dr.
Cheikh Anta Diop, one of Senegal's (and
Africa's) greatest sons, and to the men and
women scholars who continue in the spirit of
Diop's work while innovating in their own fields
of expertise (including Guyana's own Prof. Ivan
Van Sertima).
